What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Agios Pavlos Beach is lauded for its stunning, heart-shaped bay and the picturesque St. Paul's Chapel, offering a unique and romantic setting. However, many visitors find the beach to be overcrowded and the sunbeds excessively expensive, impacting the overall value for money. While the Tambakio restaurant provides a luxurious dining experience, the water clarity for snorkeling is noted as not being as clear as other locations.
"Beautiful when seen from afar, not a good place to be at all. Water is almost muddy from all the SPF, lots of rocks, no free zones, everything is occupied and overcrowded. Not sure how this place is promoted as one of the best in Rhodos"
Marin “SayanMk” Kolev
"The bay is beautiful and worth a visit, but here are a few points to keep in mind so you can make the most of your time here: the sun beds are very expensive, up to 5x more than in other beaches around the island. You can, however, avoid them if you bring your own beach towel, but then you should arrive no later than 11:00 (in July/August make it 10:30), as the beach itself is very narrow and mostly taken by the expensive sun beds, so finding a spot might be tricky. Even though the bay is beautiful, for snorkeling you will find it is not as clear as other beaches around the island. The bay can be accessed by boat, car or public transport, and there is a paid parking facility in the premises."

"Really nice place, it's quite expensive but a real treat with comfy sun loungers and drink service to you lounger... They also drive you on a golf buggy across to Lindos"

The Charm of St. Paul's Bay
The beach itself is relatively narrow, and during peak season, it can become quite crowded. The water is generally calm and clear, though some reviewers note that it can appear a bit murky due to sunscreen, impacting snorkeling visibility. Despite this, the bay's serene atmosphere and stunning visuals make it a must-visit for many exploring the Lindos area.
Beyond the natural beauty, the presence of the Tambakio restaurant adds a touch of luxury. Known for its fresh seafood and attentive service, it provides a memorable dining experience right on the beach. This combination of natural splendor, historical charm, and upscale amenities contributes to Agios Pavlos Beach's reputation as a special spot on Rhodes.
Navigating Sunbeds and Costs
To mitigate these costs, a common tip from visitors is to bring your own beach towel and set up on the sand. However, it's crucial to note that the beach is quite narrow, and sunbeds often occupy a large portion of it. Therefore, arriving early, ideally by 10:30 AM or even 10:00 AM during the busiest months of July and August, is essential to find a suitable spot if you're not renting the pricier loungers.
Despite the cost concerns, some visitors find the experience of having sunbeds and direct drink service to be a worthwhile indulgence, describing it as a 'real treat.' The convenience and comfort offered by these services, coupled with the beautiful setting, can justify the expense for some. Ultimately, the decision depends on individual budget and priorities.
