What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Rizospaston Monument deeply humbling and a respectful tribute to the fallen Acqui Division. While the monument itself is simple, its historical significance and the beautiful sea views are highly appreciated. Some note the steep climb and lack of on-site information, recommending prior research and a visit to the nearby La Fossa.
"Very humbling. Beautiful memorial and just down the path there is another smaller memorial. It's traditional Greek and there is a ruin building near. There are no plaques so I have no idea what the building was, but the graffiti was from the 40s. I recommend this memorial beware it's at the tip of a steep hill."

"Monument for the Italian Aqui Division murdered by the Nazis after they had surrendered in WWII. I just hoped to have a better view over the sea. We passed by as a form of respect for their sacrifice and the history of the island."
Ina Maxim
"Very respectful monument on the hill above Argostoli to the fallen of the Acqui Division.
I only learned about the fate of the thousands of Italian soldiers massacred or drowned after stumbling across this memorial. Yet another reminder of the waste and horror of war."
