Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Kalograion Monastery as a hidden gem, highlighting the unique experience of witnessing the nuns' traditional silk weaving and the opportunity to purchase beautiful handmade scarves and olive oil soap. The peaceful atmosphere and the nuns' welcoming nature are frequently mentioned positives, though the limited number of nuns means the operation is small-scale.

"A hidden gem. There are only 6 Kalogreon nuns left at this location who operate the looms to produce silk scarves and church vestments. A large variety of silk scarves are available to purchase at the store on site as well as a wonderful soap made with olive oil. The silk worms are no longer farmed at this location and the yarn is brought in from Sophia. Talk to the nuns for a demonstration of the loom operation with threads that are hand picked through the 3,000 warp yarns to create traditional patterns. Small parking area across from the entrance for easy access. Well worth the effort."
