What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Naxos Airport is frequently described as very old, small, and outdated, struggling to cope with tourist numbers, leading to overcrowding and discomfort. While some find its unique, small scale charming, many feel the island deserves better infrastructure. The staff are generally praised, but the overall experience is often deemed 'prehistoric' and a 'shame' for such a beautiful destination. [^Review]
"The airport is very old and far too small for the number of tourists arriving on the island.
It is really unacceptable that such a popular destination has such limited and outdated facilities. It feels overcrowded and uncomfortable for both visitors and locals.
This beautiful island truly deserves a bigger, modern airport that can properly support the demand."

"UPDATE on 09 July 2025: DONT VISIT NAXOS BY PLANE!!! IF YOU HAVE A CONNECTION FLIGHT OR YOU ARE PLANNING TO CONTINUE YOUR HOLIDAY ELSEWHERE. ALSO DONT KEEP YOUR MEDICINES IN YOUR BAGGAGE. THEY DO NOT CARE! THEY DON’T DESERVE HIGH LEVEL OF TOURISM.
Arrival on 28th June. Like a third world country two decades ago. Shame!!! Return flight to Athens on 11th July, things are much worse than our previous experience. A lot of people and hundreds of flies!!! Prehistoric conditions! Greece has earned millions of euros from tourism but has nothing invested to infrastructure since her bankruptcy in 2009. A pretty much failed state that it happens to be my home country. Sadly!
09 July 2025: same awful situation. Sad, beautiful country which has been destroyed with no mercy.
09 July 2025: things were getting worse. Our baggages remained in Naxos!!! Flight was not full and airport staff was not under pressure. But they don’t care that our holidays were ruined. People and Olymbic/Aegean airlines don’t give a damn about their customers."

"The only positive is the staff and officers. The airport (if you can call it that) doesn't have waiting area for all passengers, useless air-conditioning (everyone is profusely sweating) and very uncomfortable. We had a delay and being stuck at this airport felt like torture."
