What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vardiani Island is praised as a beautiful, deserted gem, perfect for swimming and snorkeling in its clear waters. Visitors appreciate the historical chapel and lighthouse, though the rugged, thorny terrain requires sturdy footwear. While rabbits are rarely seen now, the island offers a peaceful, natural escape accessible only by boat.
"Beautiful deserted island, we stopped there whilst on the Queen Bee, lovely waters from swimming, definitely worth scrambling up the ramshackle ladder to get to the Chapel (sadly this would be very difficult if you have mobility problems). I expected the Chapel to be a shell but was amazed to see beautiful paintings and books still inside. Apparently the monks used to raise rabbits on the island although there are none left now. The terrain is very dry with rough grasses and the rocks are quite sharp so swim shoes or crocs would be advisable."

"Amazing “private” island :) No one around (20 October) and out of the wind/waves of the sea, clear water for snorkeling."

"The island is very interesting historically. A convent and a monastery were built here. A little church still exists and appears to be in occasional use. The old lighthouse can be visited with a bit of effort. Walking around the island is not recommended in flip-flops due to what appears to be weapons-grade thorn bushes!"
