What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Saturday Bazaar in Xanthi is a vibrant, authentic local market offering incredible bargains on clothing, household goods, and exceptionally fresh produce. While it's a fantastic spot for locals and budget-conscious travelers, some tourists might find it less engaging if they're not interested in everyday items. The lively atmosphere, unique music, and opportunity to haggle are definite highlights.
"This bazaar is the exact spot where the Near East ends and the west begins. Not so much geographically, but in spirit. You can make some good bargains here, but it's worth a visit just to walk through it, listen to the merchants shouting and haggle away their wares in a mixture of Greek and Turkish, some street musician making his bagpipe scream and cry (for the rest of the Greece, the bouzouki is king, but here rules the mighty bagpipe). When you're tired, go on through the cobbled streets of the old town, refresh yourself with a boiled coffee and a bougatsa, feel the movements of a past that is still alive"

"On Saturday you have to visit this market and you won't leave without buying something! Cheap and good quality designer (fake) clothes, very cheap and very good fruits and vegetables (I almost had indigestion from strawberries), Household products, but also snails ..."
Fulvio Nani
"Great for locals with fresh fruits at very good prices, plus clothes and household items. For tourists though, thereβs not much of interest. We went hoping to discover some hidden gems, but it turned out to be a bit of a waste of time."
