While some visitors note it's not always the cleanest, its ease of access via public transport and pleasant atmosphere make it a favorite for a quick coastal getaway.
"Glyfada Beach is my favorite beach within the Athens area — easily reachable by car, tram, or bus. It’s one of those rare city beaches that feels like a real getaway. The sand is broad and very clean (they actually clean it every morning!), and the water is beautifully clear and refreshing.
There are showers, changing rooms, and umbrellas available, which makes it super convenient for a quick swim or a relaxed day by the sea. It’s also a great option if you don’t have much time to leave the city but still want a proper beach experience.
In short — easy to reach, well maintained, and always pleasant. Perfect for locals and visitors alike!"

"entrance is free, but you have to arrive either early or around lunchtime to find an empty umbrella. The beach is not that clean, but the sea is great. Easy entry into the water, suitable for families with children. Easy access from the center of Athens by bus."

"Our first beach at Glyfada was a small cove and there were many umbrellas set up. Seemed like a public beach so its nice that these umbrellas were set up. Kate had a sun tan here to “take colour” while Tom listened to Klove music while seeing the pigeons and small little birds pass by. He also threw some skipping stones – 3 was the most skip he did. Not as good when he was young, doing up to 7 skips!
