Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Purple Rain Reef as a successful and accessible artificial reef project, praising its vibrant marine life and the community's conservation efforts. Its easy access from Grand Anse Beach makes it a must-visit for snorkelers and divers. Some note the ongoing growth and the positive impact of the concrete pyramid structures.

"It’s not bad, but if you’re coming in from the water taxi (which is very likely) it’s a 30 minute trek down the beach and can be a little underwhelming. If you’re able to dive down or have good vision you’ll see the little fish, so it’s good the reef is healthy and working as intended. It’s a sectioned off area with buoys that you can swim to yourself from Mount Cinnamon"

Kai Liana

"We love this project! It's great to see the coral growth over time and see that it is becoming a true fish habitat. It's a great place to snorkel as its close to shore and quite shallow. Dive Grenada also organise underwater cleanups in the area so you can join these too and help keep the sea clean from plastic pollution!"

"This was my first visit to Grenada. Based upon a recommendation from a coworker, I walked down the beach to Dive Grenada and met Phil. After a few minutes of introductions, we began talking about the Grand Anse Artificial Reef Project (GAARP) and his passion and dedication towards ocean conservation was quickly evident!

What’s truly amazing about this project, in my own opinion, is how it all started, how it continues and Phil’s vision for its future. This is a small group of people who are trying to change the planet in their own way.

The reefs location from the beach makes it an easy dive for novice to experts. My recommendation is before diving or swimming, learn more about coral reefs, the local reef structures and our impacts on these marine ecosystems. As you dive around this site, it makes the experience much more meaningful!

I plan on returning to this reef system several times over the next year! Here are a few photos I took while enjoying this site:"
