What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise the Mayan Inn Historic Hotel for its beautiful colonial architecture, charming rooms with fireplaces, and excellent downtown location near the Chichi market. However, many reviews highlight significant issues with street noise, inconsistent hot water, and extra charges for WiFi, leading some to feel the hotel is overpriced for the service provided.
"Amazing place! The cozy room with a fire place in a great, the dim light makes it relaxing. Bedding super clean, comfortable bed and pillows. This place is located down town, walking distance to parroquia, market, the little park. Some people complained about the rooms being too noisy… well it’s down town… what do you expect? Bathroom with shower and tub and hot water. Breakfast included, I had the continental breakfast, fresh orange juice.
Something to consider people are shy, if want WiFi in your room you need to pay extra, the instructions in the room said you can ask for assistance with the fire place no later than 10pm. Also, there is free parking, it might get difficult to enter but it’s safe. The office to check in opens later than you expect, check the hours of availability if you are planning to leave early."

"Summary: nice looking, but very noisy rooms, costly for the service provided, unprofessional management

Unfortunately the hotel does not live up to its own mission and vision. If you are looking for a quiet night of sleep don’t recommend this hotel. Definitely avoid Rooms A09 and D22.
Room A09 is directly exposed to the main road on two sides of the room and numerous loud trucks and motorcycles pass. Upon asking for a more quiet room, we were relocated to D22. D22 is located right next to the water pump for the entire building complex. The water pump runs 1 minute on 1 minute off until 11PM and again from 1AM, I.e. you can get a quiet 2 hour sleep.
Somewhat strange to relocate guests looking for a quiet night to an even louder room.
Hotel administration was made aware during and after the fact, did not offer a refund, did not offer any solution or otherwise consolation.
It is really a pity, because the hotel is indeed really beautiful, very cozy with the fireplace at night, and centrally located in the city. The staff (not office management) are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is small portion, but good!"

"I loved this hotel and the fireplace in the room was the best. Hotel is located exactly at the end of Chichi market, is very nice. Highly recommend if you plan to visit Chichi for his market."
