What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Valhalla Macadamia Farm for its unique macadamia-infused cuisine, especially the pancakes and waffles, and the enjoyable free farm tour. The relaxed atmosphere and family-friendly environment are also frequently praised. However, some find the smoked meats overly intense, and the strict no-dog policy can be a disappointment for pet owners.
"I happened to see this place at random when checking Google maps so we came here for breakfast based off the good reviews.
To start, we got some horchata and fresh juice blends. The horchata almost reminded me of a peanut butter drink. The juices were good as well.
You obviously have to get their macadamia pancakes (they can also make the same batter into waffles). I really enjoyed the banana fosters pancakes and my mom liked her white chocolate pancakes. My sister got the plain macadamia waffle and that was solid as well.
Since I’m a big BBQ guy I tried their macadamia smoked sampler plate, which has chicken, sausage, and turkey. Honestly this was a little too much food and I wasn’t super impressed by this having had Texas BBQ before. Even with that being said, I did like the meatiness of the sausage but would probably not order this if I get the chance to come back again.
Overall, definitely worth a visit if you have time to fit in your schedule!"

"This is a pretty fun place with tours and a nice little shop. The food is good (especially the waffles). However, don't go here if you want to bring your dog.
It seems like the kind of place that would be dog friendly, as there are outdoor walking paths, and the restaurant seating is also outdoors (similar to other dog friendly places in the Antigua Area like Cerveceria 14, Finca Azotea, or El Bosque). However, at Valhalla, the owners let their own many dogs run around in a pack. While these dogs generally leave visiting people alone (though some of them were aggressive and barked at my family and me on our second visit - when we came without our dog), the first time I went, I didn't know visiting dogs weren't allowed, as nearly every place in Antigua with an outdoor farm setting allows dogs. The dogs attacked my own dog, who we had on a leash.
Apparently, there is a sign at the entrance to the property, but the first time I went, I didn't notice it when pulling in, as the entrance to the property is easy to miss."

"Great place to visit and take your kids. There was a balance bike my 2 year old could use while we did the tour and he loved that. The tour itself was very interesting. Just 15-20 mins , but enough to learn plenty about the macadamia. Food was great. We had the ribs and the pancakes. The ribs are smoked over the shells which make them very smokey (a little too much for my liking) ."
