What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sausmarez Manor is a well-loved estate with a rich history, beautiful gardens, and engaging house tours. Visitors praise the friendly staff, particularly in the cafe, and the unique craft workshops. However, some find the garden paths challenging due to their gravel and hilly nature, impacting accessibility for those with mobility issues.
"A lovely place, well worth a visit. The house tour is especially interesting. The paths are gravel and hilly in places so very tricky for wheelchair users. I can walk a little or we would have been stuck. The sculpture trail is not suitable for wheelchairs but my husband enjoyed it. We didn't see a sign but there is a disabled parking spot near the cafe. Food at the cafe is good."

"Nice location, not as friendly as previous visits, the cafe appears to have been taken over by someone. Come here every year when visiting the island but won't be back."

"I love visiting the gardens here and enjoy a Patois cream tea! I cannot speak highly enough of the cafe team especially, I believe one name is Bailey and he stands out a mile in his service, the way he speaks to customers is kind, informative and an absolute credit to the business. I also really enjoy the shop and the gentleman inside is so lovely, kind and friendly. The experience of visiting is so wholesome and I love it so very much- you transport to another world walking through the bamboo lined paths! Thank you! And Bailey you will make a fantastic business owner or manager one day I am sure, or whatever you go on to do. Thanks again!"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider the cafe for a relaxed break, as it's known for good food and friendly service, making it a pleasant stop for families. While the sculpture trail is visually interesting, its accessibility might be a concern for families with very young children or strollers due to the hilly and gravelly terrain.
🚶♀️ Visitors with Mobility Concerns
The house tour itself is generally more accessible, but it's always best to confirm specific details with the venue beforehand. Visitors with limited mobility might find it best to focus their visit on the accessible areas around the cafe and potentially the immediate vicinity of the manor house, rather than attempting extensive exploration of the entire grounds.
