"This is a historically important typhoon shelter constructed after the devastating 1874 typhoon. While today, it shelters more yachts and leisure boats compared to the sampans of the old days, it has long been a place visitors have come to enjoy views of the harbour and to see the boats in shelter. It is also the location of the historical noonday gun.
This autumn, the promenade area at the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter was revitalised and reopened with brick surface walking space, landscaping, seating spots and installations that are child and family friendly. This is part of a larger scale project to create more waterfront space along Victoria Harbour for residents and visitors to enjoy and something those staying in Causeway Bay can look forward to seeing."

"As much as we hated seeing the mess left over after the typhoon the various junks which were moored for safe keeping in the weather have us some excellent sights to see. The weather held up and after walking through victoria park which was thick with downed trees we crossed the bridge and wandered asking the edge of the breakwater shelter where they were starting to move their boats back out"
