What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Central Ferry Piers as a vital hub for experiencing Hong Kong's iconic harbor views and accessing charming outlying islands. The affordability and scenic beauty of the Star Ferry are major draws, though queues can be long during peak times. Some find the piers themselves functional rather than a destination, but their role as a gateway to adventure is undeniable.
"Travel on weekday not crowded. Very relaxing trip to Cheung Chau. Payment by cash at the counter or Octopus card. Recommended."

"New World First Ferry (or just First Ferry) is a service provider in Hong Kong providing sea bound transportation around Hong Kong including routes to/from outlying islands and popular places such as Cheng Chau, Peng Chau and Mui Wo.
Ferry service is similar to the Star Ferry and can be boarded by way of ferry piers. Entry can be purchased by way of cash payment or with an Octopus Card. Route service schedules are available at the piers or on their website directly.
Recently used First Ferry for a journey between Central Pier 5 and Cheung Chau and found my ferry trips to be just fine. Inside seating areas are standard and of little interest. Sailings went smoothly and were on time. Little more to comment other than finding First Ferry service on this route to be just fine and as expected."
