"When we got there around 5pm we have to make a line but it moved really fast.
And we order:
Half Rooster goose , half skin suckling pig and crispy pork
With rice and vegetables
Everything was amazing. The crispy skin 🤩
And the people at the restaurant was kind
They serve us quickly"

"First, you have to endure the rudeness of the person who allocates the table. This lady is super loud and rude. As if she is the boss who doesn’t care about the business at all. I try very hard to taste the roasted goose and even order extra plate of goose meat to see how good it can be to warrant the attitude of the server. Seriously, I can’t taste the difference from Yung Kee which I visited a day before. I love their roasted pork, the skin is extra crispy and also the cucumber which is nice. The place is quite small that also explains the long queue. I went early so queued for only 30mins. The servers inside the restaurants are much nicer. One lady whom ordered for me bothered to explain as I don’t quite get it what I should be ordering. It’s ok for a normal meal without queue but I definitely won’t come back to queue for their roasted goose anymore, it’s too many similar ones out there."

"Kams waited one hour for the meal the only thing that really stood out at Kams was the roasted pork/ char siu everything else was pretty standard. The goose was very chewy in texture. I’m pretty sure that’s what the goose is supposed to taste like but I just didn’t vibe with it. Flavours of the goose were okay and the dipping sauce they give you for the goose was also good. The suckling pig was nice but nothing out of the world to line up around 30 to 40 minutes for. Definitely a tourist social media place and it’d be hard to pump out consistency with such high demands. Also it’s crazy overpriced looking at paying 100 AUD for half of two styles of meats and a quarter goose."

The Quest for the Perfect Roast Goose
However, the experience isn't solely about the goose. The crispy roast pork (Siu Yuk) and Char Siu (BBQ pork) are often cited as equally, if not more, impressive by some diners. The roast pork's skin is lauded for its extreme crispiness, while the char siu offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory. These complementary dishes elevate the meal beyond just a single specialty.
It's worth noting that while the food receives high praise, some reviews mention that the goose can be a bit chewy for some palates, and the overall experience might not be for those seeking a refined, quiet dining atmosphere. The restaurant's popularity means it's a bustling, fast-paced environment.
Navigating the Kam's Roast Goose Experience
The service style at Kam's has been a topic of discussion. While some find the staff direct or even 'rude,' others interpret it as a cultural difference or a fast-paced, no-nonsense approach common in busy Hong Kong eateries. One reviewer noted that the servers inside were much nicer than the person allocating tables. Despite this, many find the food quality justifies the experience, and the servers are efficient in delivering the dishes once seated.
Payment-wise, credit cards are accepted for purchases over HK$150, which is convenient for most diners. The restaurant is not a fine-dining establishment, so managing expectations regarding service style is key to enjoying the overall meal.
