Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Monster Building's incredible, unique architecture and its cinematic, urban jungle vibe, making it a must-see for photographers and urban explorers. While the dense, stacked buildings are visually stunning, it's crucial to remember it's a residential area and to be respectful of the inhabitants. The spot can get crowded, but a short, polite visit offers a memorable experience. Reddit

"The architecture is truly incredible and worth visiting. I was there just after 1pm and the place was teeming with people, at every suitable corner snapping away or selfie-ing themselves, or just walking about. There're two contemporary cafes surprising and crowded as well, because it is such a contrast - I guess the edginess of this place mixed with contemporary names make it even more exciting to be at. It is absolutely amazing that it draws such a crowd and that everyone was practically finding various angles to show themselves in this very often speaking in Hong Kong movie locations. This is one of the internet in my visit to Hong Kong this time, just to soak into this atmosphere. During this Golden weekend in October 2025, it was reported that 670,000 mainland Chinese are in Hong Kong and that's excluding visitors from other countries. I guess they are here because Hong Kong is such an intriguing place, really and this Monster Building makes it even more so."

"Iconic photo spot in Quarry Bay with towering old apartment blocks packed tightly together. The architecture looks massive and unique, but it’s still a residential area so best to be respectful. Perfect for urban photography lovers.”"

ADR21AN (A.D)

"The spot can get pretty crowded, and there are people really living in the block, and some elderly do actually hang around playing card games, apparently unfazed by the crowd, so you may feel a bit intrusive if you poke around being too mosey, so please be polite when you move around.

But the magnificent and unique claustrophobic cityscape is indeed worth a visit. A short stay of around 30 mins should be more than enough for most average travelers.

The ground floor of the blocks are well serviced by many cafes, herbalists, hair salons, some restaurants, plus many odd bric-a-brac shops."
