Sun King Yuen is a legendary spot in Wan Chai, celebrated for its incredibly flavorful Hong Kong-style curry and generous portions, particularly the iconic curry pork chop rice. While the dining experience is no-frills and often involves a significant wait, most visitors find the exceptional taste and value make it absolutely worth it. "Lined up 11:10 (for 11:30am opening). Was second in line.
Food and service was streamlined and excellent.
Surroundings were ok, HK cafe like.
Ordered Curry Pork Chops, Beef Ho Fun with Lemon Iced Teas.
Pork chops were delicious with fat trimmed away (9/10). Curry was spicier than most Chinese curries and flavorful (nowhere near Indian vindaloo spice levels).
Beef Ho Fun - lots of large pieces of beef and flavorful. Ho Fun cooked perfectly (10/10).
Ice tea was standard good quality, nothing special.
Overall was a great experience and highly recommended to try at least once."

"Tucked away in Wan Chai, Sun King Yuen Curry Restaurant is a legendary, no-frills Cantonese dai pai dong famed for one thing: explosively flavorful Hong Kong-style curry.
The star is the incendiary, aromatic curry sauce—a secret recipe that’s rich, slightly spicy, and utterly addictive. It perfectly coats their signature crispy pork chop rice, a dish so beloved it has achieved cult status.
Despite its humble, bustling setting and often brusque service, the unwavering quality keeps long queues outside the door. For a definitive taste of old-school Hong Kong comfort food, this iconic eatery remains unrivaled."

"Do food taste better when you have to queue up to eat it? Yes, because the pork chop and beef hofan here tastes wonderful after 45 minutes of queueing up haha. Or most probably it’s because they really know their pork chop and their sautéed beef hofan. Their claim-to-fame is their GIANT freshly fried lightly breaded juicy bone-in pork chop that comes with a small bowl of curry sauce and rice. So you take a bite of the pork chop, take a spoonful of the rice with a bit of curry sauce and— you’re in gastronomic heaven. The beef hofan is just as good with a lot of wok hei flavor. Tip: if you come at 2-2:30 you probably don’t have to wait."
