What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Light Art Museum for its unique, immersive, and visually stunning light installations housed in a historic market hall. The interactive nature of the art and the overall imaginative experience are frequently highlighted as major positives. However, some guests noted the museum can be quite cold inside and found the language switching on information displays inconvenient.
"It was very cold inside.
The installations are charming, but there’s one drawback: before each exhibit, the information displays require you to wait for the language to switch from Hungarian to English, and there’s no option to change it manually.
Still, it’s definitely worth a visit."

"Unique and not exactly what I expected for "light" art with some of the pieces. This is by far the most bizarre museum I have been to for art. It was nice to experience once. I definitely would not visit again and would not put this on the priority list of things to do in Budapest."

"An extraordinary journey through light and imagination — Light Art Museum Budapest
Visiting the Light Art Museum Budapest was unlike any museum experience I’ve had. Housed in the historic 19th-century former Hold Street Market Hall, the building’s old-industrial architecture has been transformed — without losing its original atmosphere — into a striking playground for light, art, science, and technology.
As soon as you step inside, you realize this is not a conventional “white-cube” museum: every corridor, every chamber, and especially the centrepiece — a vast “zeppelin-shaped” projection space — is designed to immerse you in a world of shifting light, colour, and perception.
The current exhibition challenges your senses and your view of reality — themes like perception, posthumanism, and the boundaries between light, consciousness, and space emerge through installations that feel alive.
Having a personal connection to one of the founders makes this visit even more meaningful to me, because I know the vision, dedication, and creative ambition behind the museum. That awareness adds an extra layer of appreciation — you’re not just witnessing art, but a carefully crafted dream turned into reality.
If you love art, technology, innovation — or just want to experience something totally out of the ordinary — this place is a must. It’s ideal for friends, couples, families, or anyone curious about the limits of perception. Highly recommended!"
