Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the New Synagogue Szeged for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture, particularly the breathtaking interior with its gilded cupola and vibrant stained-glass windows. While some note minor signs of age and a language barrier on information panels, the overall experience is described as beautiful, impressive, and well-maintained, offering excellent value for the admission price.

"A must have! I've never seen such colorful style used in a place of worship. Beautiful. Absolutely stunning. You can see some defects because of the time, but overall the whole building is clean and taken care of. The stuff told me to leave my backpack (that was huge) next to the ticket office, so they could watch it. Very kind of them.
Barely anyone was there with me so I could cherish it in peace. You must go there."

"If you’ve never seen other synagogues it’s worth visiting. The price isn’t very high and you can turn on the lights on the inside if you have some forint coins. If you regularly go to the synagogue and you’ve been to multiple, you might not be that impressed, but I would still recommend visiting it one time. It’s got a beautiful ceiling and really carefully painted walls. The stained glass on the windows are really impressive, I love to see so much color and the high craftsmanship that was involved in creating them.
It does have a beautiful organ (which I would love to hear, but I’m not sure if it works) and the whole wall of the Aron haKodesh is marvelous in the way it was crafted.
It’s really nice that there are panels talking about the Jewish holidays, although they are only in Hungarian, which I don’t understand. English and/or Hebrew would be nice.
The guy at the front entrance was pretty bored, at least they had kippas to borrow for free, because I had forgotten mine at home."
