What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors overwhelmingly praise the Veresegyház Bear Sanctuary for its focus on rescued bears and wolves, offering spacious enclosures and a positive welfare experience. The family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a playground and train, is a major draw. Some minor concerns exist regarding the enclosure sizes for smaller animals, but the overall sentiment is highly positive, highlighting a rewarding and ethical animal encounter.
"The best experience!! I am not keen on zoos or animal in captivity at all, but this is a sanctuary for the bears. They have a large space and are free to roam, hide in dens and trees and socialise with other bears. A couple of the bears were in a sectioned off area for medical procedures//being monitored. I absolutely loved watching them in their own environment, playing in the water, playing with each other and seeing how they interacted. There are also wolves here; one pack has a large area with lots of trees to hide in and another pack lives in with the bears so also has a large area. There are other wolves in smaller packs that unfortunately have quite small areas and no where to hide from people in the farm this was quite sad to see and I do hope this improves in the future! There are other animals that have also been introduced, a selection of rabbits, deer, peacocks, sheep and birds, all of which do not have the biggest of areas which again wasn’t great. As a sanctuary it would be good to see areas developed to ensure all the animals have suitable enclosures. I would still recommend this experience as the bears have all been rescued and have a second chance at a healthy and positive life."

"We had a great time with the kids, checked out th bears, wolves and all the sheeps, deers and muflons. Spent almost the whole day there, there is a brilliant playground and a train which goes to a mining tunnel. Really fun and it's great to see that bears will get healthy snacks now instead of the constant honey -sbacking,as it was about 10 years ago. I enjoyed an excellent tour at 11am but there were various public feedings, informative and interesting."

"Cool place lots of cute and funny animals. Bears , lions, wolfs, rabbits and even some birds. The place is pretty big but you can still see everything in about an hour and a half"
