What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Danube Bend for its breathtaking natural beauty and rich historical sites, particularly the stunning views from Visegrád Castle and the grandeur of Esztergom Basilica. The charming artistic town of Szentendre also receives high marks. Some travelers note that parking can be challenging during peak times, and certain attractions have entrance fees.
"It has been quite a while since I hiked up the hill to the Danube-Bend Viewpoint.
I took a train from Budapest to Szentendre and then a bus from Szentendre to Visegrad.
I got down from the bus at 'Hotel Var Kastelyszallo', about 1 km before the Visegrad town. There were some steps near the hotel, from where the hike started.
I walked past the lower castle (Salamon Tower) towards Siblik hill and then followed the 'Mogyoróhegyi Természetismereti Tanösvény' (Nature Discovery Trail).
Being the only hiker in that tranquil forest...I could have got lost.😮
But I didn't.🤪
There was a signage board on the way but it was all Greek and Latin for me.😃
I really enjoyed the whole-forest-to-me walk, admiring the many beautiful wood carvings and a 'Szekelykapu' (a traditional carved wooden gate) on the way.
After hiking leisurely for about 5 km, I reached the upper castle to have a splendid view of the Danube Bend and its surroundings.
I returned via the cute Visegrad town, passing by 'Saint John the Baptist's Church' on the way.
Oh yes, I also made friends with a majestic falcon at the upper castle. 😜"

"Great. Most of the time the parking lot is full. But you can park on the side of the road where it’s wider. Evenings not a big problem"

"This place was absolutely beautiful. Stunning views and a really good curvy road up the hill. Theres a couple parking spots but a lot of times its full! But dont worry at the top of the hill theres a big parking lot and theres a look out, you need to pay 700ft/person! Theres a bob track too. I would highly recommend 10/10! Will go back!!"
