Reviews Summary
Visitors find Sprangan to be a unique and historically significant cultural experience, offering a chance to witness or participate in an ancient Icelandic tradition. The nearby birdlife is also a major draw. Some find the activity thrilling, while others caution about its potential for pain if not done carefully.
"It's not a paid attraction, but you can park nearby and walk up to the cliffs to play on the ropes yourself (carefully!). It's right next to a colony of breeding kittiwakes, which are fun to watch - take some binoculars along too!"
Rachel Harvey
"Great to hear about and see a sport I’d never heard of! I think it would be fun to try."
Monika Gablowski
"You have the ability to participate in a local historical activity at this rope swing that a century or more ago was used for training on how to collect birds and eggs off the cliffs. Later, this spot was used as more of a sport, practicing to safely become skilled enough to safely use higher and higher foot placements on the wall. Beware if you try it, it can be painful if you fall or land not feet first, suggest only using the first of the jumping spots.
To get here you need to walk through a semi industrial looking area, but it's only about 100m from the Strandvegur intersection."
