"Took a trip just to see this contemporary art center 20 mins from Akureyri. Worth the trip for the scenic drive and to be in a super tiny and historic village. The art center is tucked a little behind, and accessed via stairs. The exhibit on display was video art. This is an epic location for showing art. The building holds a lot of history, the raw nature of the place is a great backdrop for the site specific and well curated show. It's one of those art spaces woth little socal interaction, so didn't get to know more about the place. No tickets sold, just walked in and explored... Spent about 30 minutes, but it would depend on the exhibit. Oh, and circle around back and climb the chair. Majestic."

"The town of Hjalteyri is noting short of magical. Verksmidjan I assume is an old herring factory turned into an art center. Now it might sound crazy having been to art museums and galleries all over the world, but I found this place truly special. The exhibition running when we visited was contemporary video art and it was mind blowing. The scenery of the old factory, this super industrial environment and the art just came together with a perfect outcome. Not to be missed!"
