Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the stunning natural beauty and the unique experience of bathing in a naturally heated river. The hike is considered rewarding, offering a true taste of Iceland's geothermal wonders. However, some find the water cooler than expected, and the strong winds can be a significant challenge, making preparation and checking weather conditions crucial.

"Trail was nice but the water was too cold for bathing at the designated area. The trail in itself was OK and managable, nature is beautiful. We went on a quite windy day and the wind was so strong at some points of the trail that people were tripping over and it was really hard to walk. We never experienced such strong wind in our lives and we have been to many places. Would advise checking weather conditions before walking and not go with children or elderly in this case. If you find our beanies that were blown up the hill, please let us know!"

"Wonderful hike to the hot springs. It is about 1 hour to go up the the springs, I recommend taking good hiking shoes and warm clothes. It was really windy also. When you arrive on the top you’ve two rivers (one hot and one cold) continue to the hot one on the left. The higher you get the warmer it is. The way back is easier. About 45 mn. One of the most beautiful hike in Iceland."

Juliette Petit

"If you are interested in seeing the effects of the vulcanic activity in Iceland, Hveragerđi is a good place. You can spot hot springs here and there and even visit and bathe in the hot river. Even if you don't go all the way to the river, a little hike up in the hills is a great experience.

Mind the nature while visiting and stay on the paths to avoid erosion. Also, respect the signs and don't go too close to the hot springs. It's for your own good."
