A lorry recently met with misfortune under Ingólfsfjall when it succumbed to the relentless force of the wind. The gusts of wind proved too formidable, causing the lorry to lose its balance and overturn. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident served as a reminder of the challenges posed by the elements in this windswept region. #WindPower #Ingólfsfjall #LorryOverturn #NatureCha...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Ingólfsfjall for its stunning, 'surreal' panoramic views that require no filters, making the moderately difficult hike incredibly rewarding. The accessibility by car and the well-marked trails (once found) are appreciated. However, some find the initial trail difficult to locate, and the strong winds can be a significant deterrent for some.

"Short hike with medium difficulty"

Tinna Þórsdóttir

"Accessibility by car: Very good, suitable for all cars.
Starting point: For example, at the Alviðra farm. There are several routes to the mountain, but I will describe the route from Alviðra.
Farmer and/or permit: No, not as it is now. But the Alviðra farm in Ölfus has been jointly owned by the Land Conservation Agency and the Árnesinga District Council since February 1, 1973.
Total walking time: 2 hours.
Total distance: 5 km.
Hiking elevation: 485m.
Height above sea level: 551m.
Route rating and difficulty level: When starting this route, it is important to have a good track that points you to the marked path that is up the steep mountain slope just to the right when starting from Alviðra. It is difficult to see the marked path from afar, even if you are very close to it. But once the marked path is found, it is quite easy to follow it up the slope. Just before reaching the top of the slope, chains have been attached, which are good to use for support the last few meters up to the top. Once the top of the mountain slope is reached, a very comfortable guarded/marked path takes you to the top of the mountain called Inghól, 551 meters above sea level."

Ásgeir Jónsson

"Be careful - the wind gusts there can be very dangerous."
