What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
FlyOver Iceland is widely praised as an amazing and unique experience, offering a thrilling simulated flight over Iceland's breathtaking landscapes with realistic sensory effects. Many highlight the immersive nature of the ride and recommend it as a must-do. Some find the pre-shows less engaging and note that mist can be excessive, but the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive.
"Our experience at FlyOver Iceland was amazing and definitely was a higlight of my trip. To be honest I didn't know what to expect at the beginning. They take your picture as later you can buy it when exiting museum. First part is introduction and legends "come to life". After that is done you go to the simulation flight over Iceland most iconic landscapes and places.
It is full experience with motion and sound as well as water splashing when needed.
I really do recommend it as it is worth it. Maybe better to visit at the end of your trip as you can recognize most of the places you already visited. At least for me it was better that way.
Truly unique experience 👌 that I would do again."

"This is a fly over the beautiful landscapes of Iceland through the seasons. Before the actual ride, there are 2 additional segments of large screens where we get a look of Icelandic life style and an introduction to Trolls. While the rise is much like the Disney fly over ride, there is a grand finale of fireworks. We had a good experience."

"FlyOver Iceland is one of my best experiences so far. I visited the place not knowing what to expect as it was a surprise planned by my partner. Oh boy! What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. I loved the 5D, motion seating that gives you the feeling of flight. Virtually it takes you for a tour of iceland. I had goosebumps and I screamed with joy like a kid. It was fun! I highly recommend it."

The Immersive Flight Experience
Many visitors compare the experience to Disney's 'Soarin'' attraction, but FlyOver Iceland offers its own unique Icelandic charm and narrative. The ride showcases Iceland's diverse beauty through the seasons, providing a breathtaking visual journey. For those concerned about motion sickness, the ride is generally described as more of a gentle sway and lean, rather than abrupt or jerky movements, making it accessible to a wide range of visitors.
Beyond the main flight, the ticket also includes two pre-show segments. These are designed to build anticipation and provide context. One segment often focuses on the technology and the concept of the 'flight,' while the other delves into Icelandic folklore and legends, bringing ancient stories to life. While some find these pre-shows less engaging than the main ride, they contribute to the overall narrative and thematic experience of FlyOver Iceland.
Understanding the Pre-Shows
The second pre-show is where you'll dive into the rich tapestry of Icelandic culture and mythology. This segment often brings Icelandic legends and folklore to life on large screens, featuring tales of trolls, elves, and ancient heroes. It's an engaging way to connect with the spirit of Iceland before you virtually soar over its landscapes. While some visitors find these pre-shows to be less exciting than the main attraction, they are an integral part of the overall narrative and thematic immersion.
It's worth noting that the pre-shows are designed to be informative and thematic, offering a glimpse into the stories that shape Iceland's identity. They provide a cultural context that can enhance your appreciation of the landscapes you'll see during the main flight. Consider them as a prelude to the grand adventure, adding depth to your visit.
