What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Heritage Walk Ahmedabad for its immersive journey through the city's rich history and architecture. The knowledgeable guides, affordable price, and the unique experience of exploring the old city's pols are frequently highlighted as major positives. Some minor points of feedback include the need for better signage in some areas and the potential for heat during certain times of the year.
"This is one of the highlights of my trip to Amdavad. I was the only international tourist among a group of more than 10 other Indian tourists. We had a wonderful guide on 30th September. He explained in his language to the group first and then walked alongside me to explain in English, which I deeply appreciated. The tour was informative and the historical sites and buildings were breathtaking. I wouldn’t have done this alone as the inner narrow laneways are like a maze. It is worth the experience for a small fee of 300 rupees for the 2 hours heritage walking tour. Don’t miss this guided tour if you are visiting Amdavad."

"Walking through the Heritage Walk Ahmedabad is a beautiful journey through centuries of history, beginning at the Swaminarayan Temple in Kalupur around 7:45 AM and winding through 20 heritage sites in about 2½ hours . The walk leads through bustling pols—harmony-filled old neighbourhoods with carved wooden façades, chabutras (bird feeders), secret passages, and community wells—each telling its own story of past lives .
Highlights include stops at Manek Chowk, which awakens from a morning vegetable and bullion market into a vibrant street food hub at night , and culminates at the majestic Jama Masjid, built in 1424, with its courtyard of 260 stone pillars and 15 domes—a serene contrast to the city’s lively lanes .
This guided tour, led by volunteer storytellers, blends local tales, architectural insights, and spiritual stops—such as Jain temples and colonial-era havelis—that showcase Ahmedabad’s layered identity . Tickets are affordable—around ₹200 for Indians and ₹300 for foreigners—with a luxury option including breakfast for a bit more . The walk is not just a tour, but a lens into the city’s soul: its people, design heritage, rituals, and daily rhythms."
