What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the unique experience of walking on the seabed and discovering diverse marine life and corals. The knowledgeable guides are a highlight, enhancing the educational aspect. However, the park's infrastructure, particularly washrooms and road conditions, is a significant drawback for many.
"Amazing place to see marine life . Migratory birds are a bonus in winters. Guides are helpful and well learned. You can see atleast crabs, puffer fish, octopus, star fishes, sea cucumber, sea anemone etc along with birds. Mangooves and corals are plenty. Negative side is poorly maintained washrooms and chance of injury to legs due to stony beach. Carry ur own floaters or crocs."

"A must visit place in Gujarat for those who really want to feel the nature. The coral reefs, the beach, the sunrise - everything is mind blowing. One can never forget this place once they visit. The staff is so kind and helpful that they guide you everywhere and show you the beauty of coral reefs and the different types of marine life. The RFO and Forest Officer are full of knowledge and have answers to your every single question. The sunrise and the night sea here is like no where else in Gujarat. The park is mostly not accessible for common people but students can have special access as an education camp. They can stay there for 24 hours. The other people who visit the park have to leave it by the evening."

"The good:
The tour itself was quite informative. The guide was also good.
The road is adventurous.
The salt fields on both sides of the roads look so nice.
Note:
They don't control the tide times. Make sure you take out a day for just this activity.
Carry your own slippers, as you are supposed to walk in water.
The Bad:
But don't use the shoes they give you. Carry your own slippers. If you use the shoes they provide your feet are bound to bleed.
Washrooms in very bad condition.
No water in washrooms."

Understanding the Tides: Your Key to Exploration
It is absolutely crucial to check the daily tide timings before planning your visit. These timings change every day, and arriving during high tide will mean you miss the primary attraction of the park. Guides at the park office can provide the most accurate information. Planning your visit around these natural cycles is the single most important factor for a successful and memorable experience.
This tidal phenomenon also means that the landscape is constantly changing. What you see during one low tide might be different during another. This dynamic environment makes each visit potentially unique and offers a glimpse into the raw power and beauty of nature.
Navigating the Terrain: Footwear and Safety
Be mindful of the terrain underfoot. The seabed can be slippery in places, and sharp coral fragments or stones are present. Taking slow, deliberate steps and paying attention to where you are walking will help prevent injuries. Hiring a knowledgeable guide is also beneficial as they can point out safer paths and areas to avoid.
Beyond footwear, carrying drinking water is essential, as the exploration can take several hours. While basic washroom facilities might be available, they are often poorly maintained, so managing expectations and being prepared is key to a comfortable visit.
The Rich Biodiversity of the Gulf of Kutch
During low tide explorations, visitors can spot a fascinating variety of creatures such as starfish, sea cucumbers, various types of crabs (including Neptune and swimming crabs), pufferfish, octopuses, and numerous small coral fish. The presence of these species indicates a healthy marine environment. The park also serves as a crucial habitat for migratory birds, especially during the winter months, adding another layer of attraction for nature enthusiasts.
Conservation efforts are vital for this unique coastal ecosystem. The park's biodiversity is a testament to the importance of protecting these marine environments from pollution and over-exploitation.
