Reviews Summary

Raghurajpur is celebrated as a vibrant heritage village, brimming with talented Pattachitra artists and diverse traditional crafts. Visitors are captivated by the living art scene, the opportunity to purchase directly from artisans, and the unique charm of the painted houses. While the artistry is universally praised, some travelers caution about persistent salespeople.

"This village is a great way to learn about Pattachitra painters. It’s a traditional way of painting and as an art form it’s over 2000 years old. There are lots of artists still present in the village and lots of the houses are painted too"

Nick Linehan

"An awesome village full of Artisans who are gifted in the art of patachitra.
A must visit for any tourist who value art and painting... the Village has been in existence since the 12th century and the artisans are decendents of the artisans who painted the Jagannath Puri Temple... There are a 160 houses and each house has over 6 or 7 artists... making it over a 1000 artists in a single locations.. There may not be another village like this in India.

If you are visiting Odhisha or Puri you must make it a point to visit here"

prakrut Mehta

"Be mindful of touts and artists posing as salesperson. They will grab you the moment you arrive and not let you explore the village. Their excuse is "just 2 minutes" and they will waste 1-2 hours. Then they play emotional card and after storey telling will expect you to buy one of their handicraft.

The handicraft is beautiful piece of work. But not these people who will waste your time.

If you visit, ignore them when you walk through and into the village."
