"We didn't actually plan to visit the Dr. MGR Memorial — our auto driver took a wrong turn and dropped us there by mistake! 😅
We didn’t go inside, but from outside the place looked grand and very well-maintained. Clean surroundings, well-laid paths, and a peaceful atmosphere — definitely a place of respect and calm.
Even though it wasn’t on our list, the vibe felt nice. Maybe next time we’ll step in and explore it properly — and make sure our auto driver double-checks the drop location! 😄"

"I , belong to MGR era & hence when I visited the Memorial , what I felt mattered more than what I saw . The marble edifices & the grandeur of the memorial didn't strike me so much as memories of Puratchi Thalaivar . My friends Mani from Tirunelveli , Narayanan of Chennai are die hard fans of Makkal Thilagam . They , Mani & Narayanan are entirely different distinct personalities- one is from rural & the other one is from urban - one belongs to a forward community & the other to SC- one belongs to an affluent family & the other to a poor family - but the charisma of MGR attracted both alike . Such is MGR's hold over the people of Tamilnadu . After assuming power till his death he remained as King 🤴 of Tamilnadu.
When I visited the mausoleum only his films 🎥 🎞 🎦 🎬 📽 ,
Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum,
Nadodi Mannan,
Enga veetu Pillai,
Ayairathil Oruvan,
Ulagam Sutrum Valiban,
Anbe vaa,
Iadhyakani ,
Adimai Penn etc reverberated in my thoughts . What I want to stress is when you visit the memorial don't see it but feel it .
Now about the idol & the memorial . Wherever he is born & brought up, he is darling of the masses of Tamilnadu . Born on 1917 ,he completed 70 years & died a natural death in the year 1987 . He is serving the people of Tamilnadu even now through His lieutenants late Jeepiaar , late Isari Velan & the living legends G.Viswanathan & Saidai Durai Samy .
The memorial is maintained neat & clean & the path to where MGR is laid to rest is lined by flowering 💐 plants & ornamental Crotons 🪴 . The apt words ' DILIGENCE EARNS EMINENCE ' is engraved on the marble platform where he is taking rest . An eternal flame 🔥 is burning 🔥 over the samadhi & cool breeze from the sea always gives comfort to him & also the visitors. For most part it is wheel chair ♿️ accessible.
A MUST SEE PLACE FOR TAMILIANS."

How I got here - took metro to “Government Estate” from airport. Took 2a bus from the metro exit bus stop to reach “Anna Square”."
