Reviews Summary
Kapalkundala Temple is recognized for its deep literary connection to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel and its historical significance, particularly the ancient Kali idol. However, many reviews highlight its neglected state and the confusion surrounding its exact identity, urging for better preservation and development.
"Historice place to visit. Kapalkundla story was written based on this temple by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay."
SNEHANGSHU NAYEK
"It's a heritage of India and West Bengal but it's neglected very badly. In our famous literatures the temple is mentioned. It's in a ruined state, needs a lot of development. Government should take care of it. The idol of goddess Kali is more than 300 years old. Once upon a time in past human sacrifices were offered to Devi, the weapon (খাঁড়া) is still kept by the side of the idol. Tho nothing like slotering is performed in modern days. It's a must see please for Hindu pilgrims."
Kallol Sarkar
"This temple is actually the Shiva temple may be a contemporary of Kapalkundala Kali Mandir which exists almost 500 feet inside the village from this temple. The Kapalkundala Mandir has no idol now, although transpires since long, and is a private property since very long time. It is used for accommodation and behind it erected toilets which raised ire of village people. By consequence village people with local byabsai samitee erected a Kapalkundala Temple beside the roadside. It has two different idols of Kali."
