Rahul Das

"This is a historic place as far as Bengali literature, nationalist sentiment and patriotic fervour are concerned. The iconic novelist and literateur Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay lived in this Burmese styled house of Samtaber, Deulti, Howrah from 1926 to 1938. The legendary writer was all along creative in this period and one of the well-known novels written here happens to be Bipradas -- his very last work. The house is not only beautifully conserved, its displays are also most lovingly and carefully maintained. One must feel nostalgic and emotional if they are born or brought up in the 1960s and 1970s. My most warm compliments to the State Heritage Commission."
