Reviews Summary
Khandar Fort is lauded for its stunning views and remarkably intact ruins, offering a unique adventure for those passionate about abandoned forts. However, the challenging and unmaintained 600-foot climb is a significant hurdle, requiring ample preparation and local guidance to find the path. It's a rewarding but physically demanding experience.
"If you’re passionate about abandoned forts and enjoy stunning views, then this is one to visit. However, warning advisory - getting to it is not for the faint hearted!
We’d assumed (wrongly) that it could be reached by car. Not so! It involves a 600 foot climb (I’m not joking) along an unmaintained path (I use the term lightly) that is steep in its entirety.
Finding the path is a task in itself. There’s no local signage and it’s not obvious that you’re in the right place. We relied on the goodwill of local villagers who took us to where the path starts.
The climb up took almost an hour. However the views are stunning. Take plenty of water with you - there’s nothing in the fort.
As you can imagine it’s ruins but the fact they are still standing is testament to the builders."

"One of the best intact forts you can visit in an entire day. The fort is very vast and has intact bastions which is what can be walked upon the entire length. Meeting peacocks and history unravel itself with the queen's palace coming back to life as a jungle book."
