What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Sun Temple in Gwalior is appreciated for its modern architecture, intricate red sandstone carvings, and peaceful garden setting, often compared to the Konark Sun Temple. Visitors enjoy the cleanliness and natural elements like peacocks, though the strict no-photography rule and occasional reports of rude security can detract from the experience.
"Entry is free. However you have to deposit mobile and camera at the entry. There is free locker for that. Bathroom available near the entrance and it's clean. Drinking water also available. Temple is located inside a garden. There are benches , however the security won't allow you to sit.so is the bench just for decoration. The temple is calm and quiet. Show rack available just in front. As I have been to Sun temple Konark, the replica may have failed to meet the requirements of original"

"Most pathetic and worst place to visit in whole india. SIS securities are operating inside. They behaved rudely to most of the visitors. One said "niklo jaldi", one said " jo ukharna hai ukhar lo". Can any one from the owner/trust can check here? They refused to take complain. Local people also humiliated"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, parents should be aware of the strict no-photography rule, which might be challenging with younger children who love to capture memories. Also, the reported instances of rude security staff could be a concern, so keeping a close eye on children and managing interactions with security is advisable. The benches in the garden might not always be available for seating, so be prepared for that if you have very young children or elderly family members.

Architectural Inspiration and Modern Construction
This architectural approach makes it a unique blend of historical reverence and contemporary craftsmanship. Unlike the ancient temples, its relatively recent construction means it offers a different kind of experience, focusing on the visual artistry and the serene environment it provides. Visitors often compare it to Konark, noting both similarities and differences in their spiritual impact and aesthetic appeal.
The temple's design emphasizes a peaceful atmosphere, with its location within a well-maintained garden contributing to its tranquil ambiance. This deliberate design choice aims to create a space for quiet contemplation and appreciation of its artistic merits, even with the restrictions on photography.
Visitor Experience and Security Concerns
However, a recurring point in reviews is the behavior of the security personnel. Some visitors have reported instances of rudeness and unhelpful attitudes from the SIS securities operating within the premises. This has led to negative experiences for some, with complaints reportedly not being addressed. It's advisable for visitors to be aware of this and maintain a calm demeanor when interacting with security staff.
Despite these concerns, many still find the temple to be a worthwhile visit for its architectural beauty and tranquil setting. The prohibition of mobile phones and cameras, while inconvenient for some, encourages visitors to be more present and absorb the surroundings without the distraction of capturing images.
