What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Chandramouleshwara Temple Unkal for its rich history, stunning Chalukyan architecture, and the rare four-entrance design. The peaceful and spiritual ambiance is a significant draw, offering a calm respite. However, some note drawbacks like a narrow approach road, limited parking, and the need for cleaner surroundings outside the temple complex.
"I visited Chandramouleshwar Temple this afternoon, and as a person from Hubballi, I feel proud that such a historic and beautiful temple is in our city. This temple is more than 900 years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is built in the old Chalukyan style of architecture, which is famous in Karnataka. What makes it special is the four entrances on all sides, which is very rare, and the stone carvings on the doors and pillars are truly wonderful to see.
The temple atmosphere is very peaceful and calm. Since it is not crowded like other temples, I could spend time slowly doing darshan and also observing the carvings and structure. The positive energy here makes it a very good place for both prayer and quiet time.
∆ Some important points from my visit:
1) Heritage and History: Around 900 years old, protected monument under ASI.
2) Architecture: Unique four-entrance design, fine stone carvings, and beautifully made pillars.
3) Spiritual Feel: Calm, quiet, and filled with positive energy.
4) Less Crowded: You can take your time for darshan and exploring.
5) Accessibility: Located within Hubballi city, so easy to reach.
6) Drawbacks: The approach road is narrow, parking is limited, and the surroundings outside could be cleaner.
Even with these small drawbacks, the temple itself is well preserved and maintained. It is a must-visit for people of Hubballi and also for visitors who come from outside, especially those interested in history, architecture, and spirituality.
As a local, I strongly recommend this temple, it is not just a place of worship but also a symbol of our city’s rich heritage.

"This is India’s cultural and religious legacyI , an architectural marvel, and one of the finest artistic wonders, to say a few. Located some 12 km from the city centre, you have many options to reach there. The temple is completely encroached upon by the locals, but the painful thing is Government has done nothing to stop it. Maybe because of some pressure the temple is standing and preserved or else long back it would have been demolished to pave way for houses for just few lakhs."
