"I visited Khajrana Ganesh Temple on a weekend during Shravan 2025. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too crowded. I had the chance to speak with one of the priests there, who shared a bit about the temple’s history. The temple was originally built by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, and the idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered hidden inside a wall — believed to have been placed there to protect it during the Mughal era.
Many devotees believe that their wishes come true after visiting this temple. Apart from the main Ganesha idol, there are several other smaller temples within the premises, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Ram, Sai Baba, Shani Dev, and more.
The temple has ample free parking, which is a big plus. You’ll also find shops nearby selling prasadi and puja samagri.
It tends to get very crowded on Wednesdays and during Ganesh Chaturthi, so plan your visit accordingly. There’s also an old well in front of the temple, said to be the spot where the idol was discovered by Ahilyabai herself.
People often bring laddus as prasadi, and it’s a common tradition to visit this temple for Ganesha’s blessings when buying something new like a car, or when printing the first wedding or housewarming invitation card.
One thing to note: Photography is not allowed inside the temple.
