What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is praised for its stunning natural beauty, particularly the breathtaking hilltop views and serene forested trails. Visitors appreciate the opportunity to experience nature and the potential to spot elephants, especially during summer. While accommodation and food require advance planning and additional fees, the overall experience is considered a refreshing escape.
"We spontaneously planned a weekend road trip from Kolkata to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. We left Kolkata on a Saturday morning at 6:30 AM and arrived around 2:00 PM, including a few stops along the way. Our breaks included Kolaghat and the Jharkhand border, where we had lunch at Delhi Darbar Dhaba.
1) Accommodation
Since it was a last-minute plan, we booked a mud house online a week in advance for ₹600. Upon arrival, we paid an additional ₹900 for the room and a ₹600 car access fee for the sanctuary, which was valid until the next day.
2)Food
We had a delicious dinner at the JH Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary Research Development Center campus, where the bamboo houses are located. The meal was truly tasty, consisting of chicken curry, vegetable curry, and aloo choka.
3) Exploring Dalma
On our first day, we explored the local areas and Chandil Dam, where we enjoyed boating. The next morning, we drove to the hilltop. You can take your car all the way to the top, where you'll find a watchtower and temples dedicated to Hanuman Ji and Shiva Ji. The views made it feel like we were in a North Bengal hill station! After returning to the mud house, we checked out and headed to Dimna Lake.
This was our enjoyable 2-day, 1-night trip. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a great option for a weekend road trip!"

"This place is a scam 1st of all charges 600rs for car 10rs per person to drive through a narrow dusty road for an hour to reach the top hill and jamshedpur is so polluted that after reaching the top all u can see us smoke no view.. what a waste of time and money and I don't really understand why to charge 600rs for car when there is nothing to see on the road no animal scamming people in the name of safari ride . The only animals you will see is 100s of deer as soon as you enter the gate and to see those deers you don't need to take the car it's just 5 to 10 steps always from the entrance after that u will see some groups of monkey on the hill top that's it ..they also said there is an elephant opposite to the 🦌 deer but it will come out at 3 pm . It's not worth visiting this place 1st it's far from the city and again pay money to drive another 1 hour in the dusty road to see nothing on the hill top. It's was very disappointing worst experience ever.."
