Timing is Everything for Photos

Toorji Ka Jhalra is a photographer's dream, but lighting is key. Visit during the 'golden hours' of early morning or late afternoon for the best shots. Avoid midday sun which can make the sandstone look dull and the water murky. Be prepared for crowds, especially if you're aiming for that perfect, empty-looking shot.

Free Entry, But Be Prepared

Good news! Toorji Ka Jhalra is free to enter, making it a budget-friendly stop. However, it's located in a busy, narrow market street. Expect crowds, especially during peak tourist times. Wear comfortable shoes as you'll be navigating steps and potentially uneven ground.

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Toorji Ka Jhalra for its stunning 18th-century architecture and free entry, making it a must-visit for photography and experiencing local life. While some note the water could be cleaner and crowds can be significant, the unique historical charm and vibrant atmosphere are consistently highlighted as major draws.

"It doesn't have much to offer except the steep staircase you need to climb down. If the lighting is right the photographs you take might look good, otherwise they'll just look dirty. Not too crowded but it was very hot when we went. Overall worth a small visit after the Ghanta Ghar."

Shreeraam Vashisht

"Toorji ka Jhalra is a historical place in Jodhpur and is located very near to Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower). It was really lovely to visit this place as it was very beautiful and peaceful, there is a little bit of crowd not overcrowded and yes this is an open place so no tickets for this place. Also the local boys jump from height directly into the water for their fun but it entertains the crowd as well. The steps here makes this place more beautiful"

Snehil Bajpai

"Step wells always excites me. This old age knowledge of storing water for dry season is something we should follow till date. Toorji Ka Jhalra Bavdi is an 18th century stepwell built by a queen.
Once a community water source is now a hangout place. Sitting on the steps are quite relaxing or can can climb down to the last step to touch the water. The water needs to be cleaned regularly. We saw a pre wedding photo shoot at the venue too.
Please mark this spot if you are visiting Jodhpur and you don't have to pay an entry fee for this place."
