What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Kaginahare Viewpoint's breathtaking, untouched scenery and peaceful atmosphere, calling it an underrated gem. The adventurous off-road trail adds to the experience, though it requires careful navigation or a walk. Some note litter, urging better preservation.
"Kageneri View Point is a stunning spot offering breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. The short 600-meter stretch from the main tar road to the viewpoint is quite adventurous and entirely off-road. Only jeeps can make it all the way, while regular cars can go about 200 meters before you’ll need to walk. The path may be a bit challenging, but once you reach the top, the spectacular view makes it absolutely worth it.From the viewpoint, you can catch a beautiful glimpse of the railway line connecting Hassan and Mangalore, along with parts of the highway cutting through the hills. The best time to visit is early morning or late evening, when the light and mist make the scenery even more magical. A perfect spot for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys peaceful, untouched landscapes."

"Kaginahare View Point is one of the most underrated viewpoints in Sakleshpur and possibly in all of Karnataka. The views are incredible — vast landscapes, untouched surroundings, and total peace. One advantage of it being lesser-known is that it’s not crowded at all, allowing you to truly enjoy the calmness of the place. I was all by myself when I visited, and the pictures I took were amazing — though they still don’t do justice to how stunning it is in real life!
I was lucky to get a bright and sunny day in late October, which made the views even more spectacular. You can even spot the Konkan railway tunnels in the distance — pretty cool sight!
However, an honest note: there were quite a few liquor bottles lying around, likely from locals who come here to drink. I wish the spot was better maintained because it really is a gem.
Do not take your car all the way up. Park on the tarmac road — the viewpoint is just ~500 meters from there. The trail is full of huge craters and definitely not suitable for hatchbacks or sedans. Even with a 4x4, there’s a chance of the chassis hitting the ground.
I visited around 10 AM, and the weather was perfect. It took me about 4.5 hours from Bangalore including breaks. This was the perfect first half of my day before checking into the homestay.
Overall — absolutely stunning and very highly recommended. The ghat roads are easy to drive and are in fairly good condition throughout"

"This viewpoint provides a refreshing escape from the bustle of everyday life. The walk up is pleasant and well-maintained, making it accessible to most visitors. Once you reach the top, you’re rewarded with a panoramic view that stretches across the landscape—the cityscape, lush greenery, and distant hills all beautifully visible. Benches are thoughtfully located so you can relax and soak in the scenery. It’s an excellent spot for photos, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quick nature break or looking to impress visiting friends!"
