The journey to Kankeshwar Temple is as peaceful as the destination. Surrounded by greenery and fresh air, it feels like a spiritual retreat. "A peaceful spiritual retreat worth the climb!
Visited Kanakeshwar Temple recently, and I must say – the 1 to 2 hour hike is absolutely worth it. The path takes you through dense greenery and fresh air, making the climb a spiritual and refreshing experience in itself. There are around 700+ steps to the top, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
Once at the top, you're rewarded with breathtaking views and pure serenity. The Shiva temple is believed to be over 900 years old, built in traditional Hemadpanthi style. The stone structure, intricate carvings, and natural surroundings give the temple a truly divine atmosphere. It’s not just a religious site, but also a heritage spot with deep historical value.
One of the highlights here is the Pushkarni (Kunda) – a sacred stepped tank that holds cool, clear water even in summer. It's beautifully constructed and adds a unique charm to the temple premises. Locals say the water has spiritual and healing significance.
There are smaller temples around the main shrine, dedicated to other deities like Hanuman and Kal Bhairav, adding to the overall experience.
Tips:
Avoid mid-day heat; early morning or late afternoon is best.
You can find small stall small hotel in between and at the top, toilet is also there at top near temple.
Monsoon makes the hike even more beautiful but also slippery – so be cautious.
In short, Kanakeshwar Temple is not just a religious visit, it's a journey — physically rewarding and spiritually uplifting."
