However, access is a major challenge as it now functions as Sainik School Kapurthala, requiring prior permission which can be difficult to obtain. Visitors note its beautiful design but also mention it's not perfectly maintained.

"What a place i had no clue that kapurthala have this much great history. I went there with my friend he told me about it. And this mahal is so impressive. And thank to those who kept it nicely as SAINIK SCHOOL."

Satvir Khangura (Sav)

"Beautifully built, but of course not looked after properly. Walking thru, you can travel back to the time it would’ve been built - the passion, the vision, its use, the grandeur.

Kind of sad to see it in its current run down state. But it’s still a gorgeous building to visit and marvel at its majestic grand beauty.

The watchman at the gates were very friendly, as were all the school staff.

Beware: you can’t rock up and enter.
Since it now operates as a school, due to safety concerns Entry is strictly by permission.
Basically you need to know someone who can account for you."

Sonia Arora

"Nothing to see. They don’t allow anyone to enter."
