What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Neendakara Fishing Harbour is a massive, bustling hub for fresh seafood, praised for its vibrant auctions and bulk buying opportunities at great prices. While the energy and freshness are major draws, visitors should be prepared for crowded conditions and a less-than-pristine environment. The nearby islands offer a peaceful contrast for those seeking tranquility.
"Very big and busy fish harbour—much larger than Vadi Harbour. It's crowded, but you can buy fresh fish in large quantities at good prices through auctions. Try to get there early, around 4:30 AM, as that's when most of the trading happens. Sometimes I couldn't get what I wanted due to price fluctuations based on availability, but it's still much cheaper than local shops. You can buy directly from the boats as they offload-fast paced."

"The harbour is meant for sorting and selling the fishes from the strollers and small boats. They have the sale of fishes at a reasonable price. There is amble area for parking and some eateries(not so classy and hygienic but tastey ones) near by. The whole floor is watery due to fish handling. I have seen sorted stash of fishes for export and transporting to longer distances from there as well as local sales. You can get fishes from this place in a smaller quantity from the vendors. Theres is a reasonable possibility of bargaining."

"Neendakara is one of Kerala's largest and busiest fishing harbours, accommodating over 500 boats. Visitors often praise the vibrant fish market, where fresh catches like tuna, sardines, and prawns are auctioned daily. The atmosphere is lively, with locals and tourists mingling amidst the bustling activity. However, some reviews note that cleanliness can be an issue, and the area can get quite crowded."
