Kollam port is one of the oldest port of India, which is considered to be commissioned on 825 AD by Mar Abo, sanctioned by udhayamarthanda varma, having a very long and great history of trades. The port was considered to be one of the main trading hub from 9th century to 15th century AD. Kollam port was initially the port of chera dynasty, then it became the port hub of venad, making kollam the capital city of Venad Dynasty. The port had trades with China, Egypt, greek Roman's, and Malaysia. The port also served as the business hub of people from China, Middle East, Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, and other Eastern Mediterranean Countries.
