"Very good mini forest like place but poorly maintained, from what all we can see now, the place had all the great facilities at the opening time which now had run down due to poor maintenance. The forest area has been littered very badly. Parks, auditorium, amenity centre, all are now closed. The small river in front is polluted too. Neglecting all these odds, we can have a good walk through the forest over the stone paved way which is quite mind pleasing. Entry fees is 20."

"Sarovaram Biopark in Kozhikode is a refreshing urban oasis nestled alongside Canoly Canal, covering around 200 acres of conserved wetlands and mangrove forests . As one of India’s 27 identified wetlands, it plays a vital role in protecting biodiversity—harboring seven mangrove species, 29 associated plant species, and around 34 varieties of birds .

My visit left me impressed by how seamlessly environmental conservation meets leisurely appeal. Scenic walkways and well-manicured trails wind through bamboo groves and wetlands, ideal for early morning jogs or peaceful evening strolls (). Aboard a pedal boat, I glided through calm waters, with kingfishers, herons, and egrets occasionally flashing by—a delight for bird watchers ().

The park is more than natural beauty—it features thoughtfully designed attractions such as a butterfly garden, otter park, children’s play area, open-air amphitheatre, musical fountain, and even an aquarium . These enrich the experience, making the park well-suited for all age groups from families to college groups.

However, maintenance could improve—some wooden bridges and signage appear weathered, and minimal litter was seen along the canal edge . A recent ₹2.19 crore renovation is underway, aiming to restore bridges, play zones, gym areas, and the open-air theater .

In all, Sarovaram is a serene escape in Kozhikode—a harmonious blend of ecological importance and family-friendly leisure. Ideal for nature lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a calm retreat within the city."
