What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Shivaji's Ladder for its breathtaking, unparalleled views of Matheran and the thrilling rock-climbing opportunities. However, many caution that the trek is challenging and dangerous, especially during monsoon, and strongly advise against it for those with health issues or lacking climbing skills. The lack of facilities and the need for self-sufficiency are also noted.
"Been here 4 years ago during summer and then in monsoon in July 2022, it was all the way different experience, better to avoid during monsoon as there is a heavy stream which needs to crossed at Arkaswadi and last rock patch before reaching matheran which is literally slippery with water flowing from above, the ladders are not placed at every patch, you need to have great climbing skills to cross last patch"

"This is not for the infirm or fient hearted. Follow the track around the back of the lake..break track on the left just before the resturants on the other side of the lake. You will then see 2 pillars. Go through and break track again on left. You will enter a clearing indicated with concrete marker. Follow path down until you reach the rocks..theres a steel rope but take gloves as its too hot to touch without.
This place was so peaceful and tranquil but exercise caution. If you fall its game over. Take water. Tell people where you are headed. Its only about 600m from the brick road but no one woupd hear you if in difficulty.
Overall one of the best viewpoints in Matheran. Recommended."
