Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the vibrant and thought-provoking art, especially the large-scale murals that transform urban spaces. The Mumbai Urban Art Festival at Sassoon Docks is a highlight, offering unique installations. However, the strong fish smell at the docks and potential crowds during festivals are frequently mentioned drawbacks.

"Fantastic wall art and a real insight into the seafood industry in Mumbai. Not for the faint hearted or weak stomached (there is quite the smell at the harbour)."

Mike Hermida

"The mural depicted in the image is a striking example of urban artistry, transforming a commonplace wall into a vibrant tableau that narrates cultural and historical tales. The bold use of colors and intricate detailing of human figures in various poses and traditional attire suggest a deep connection to the heritage of a specific community. Architectural elements such as arches interspersed within the mural add a layer of depth and complexity, inviting viewers to delve into the visual narrative.

This piece of wall art not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the urban environment but also serves as a public testament to the power of storytelling through visual means. It enriches the cultural fabric of the locality, offering both residents and visitors a glimpse into the rich tapestry of the community’s history and traditions. Such murals are invaluable in fostering a sense of identity and pride, while also beautifying the urban landscape."

Jayant Dongre

"I love art and what more to love than an entire area that has been done up to look pretty with a meaning!

The entry here is free with a simple online registration to probably take note of the number of entrances. The area is so well done up!!!

The walls, the streets and the area around is thriving with either art works or movable, interactive installations.

The only issue is the smell. I can understand. The stink is very very strong but it's something to bear with due to the less space available in Bombay.

They have a cute souvenir store and I picked up a pin talking about that Mumbai art festival. Overall a lovely experience that I would repeat in the future."
