What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Shweta Varahaswamy Temple for its serene atmosphere, intricate Hoysala architecture, and spiritual ambiance. Many highlight it as a peaceful escape within the bustling Mysore Palace grounds, often overlooked by tourists. However, inconsistent and restricted opening hours are a common point of frustration.
"Lacs of tourists visit Mysore every year and each of them visit Mysore Palace. most of them does not know about the beautiful temples and temple complex built in and around Mysore Palace. The building of these temples by Mysore rulers shows their religious sentiments and devotion towards supreme power. Regular prayers and Pujas are performed in these temples but they are neglected by most tourist due to lack of knowledge about these temples. One such temple is Shree Shvetha Varaha Swamy Temple . It is located at the southern entrance of Mysore Palace. Having grandeur architectural structural of Hoysala, It is claimed that this temple was built by Dewan Purnaiya with the architectural and sculptural slabs that were available at a Hoysala Temple in Shimoga. As such it is a fine example of reconstructing a beautiful temple at a far off place during that time when Krishnaraja Wodeyar III was the king of Mysore. After visiting Mysore palace, when we visited at this temple, it was 1.20 pm. the temple was closed and we were not able to perform puja or have a darshan of Varaha Swamy an associated incarnation of Lord Vishnu. We just clicked the picture and gather some facts about the temple and left. When having a plan to visit Mysore palace, confirm the temple timing first and schedule your visit accordingly."
