I visited the museum on a weekend and was surprised by how much there is to see. It has everything—from dinosaur bones and fossils to old weapons, coins, and tribal art. The building itself is beautiful and peaceful, with big halls and open lawns.

These stone inscriptions date back as far as the 10th century, with others from the 12th, 13th, and 16th centuries. They are written in Devanagari script, Sanskrit, and several local languages, reflecting the diverse linguistic and cultural history of the region.
The main attraction, however, is nothing short of legendary—the Waghnakh (वाघनख), the iconic weapon used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to eliminate the Mughal general Afzal Khan. This historical artifact, originally housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, is now proudly displayed here, making it a powerful symbol of Maratha valor and strategy.
The entry fee is just ₹10 per person, making it accessible to all. Though a part of the museum is currently under renovation, and some sections are temporarily closed, the available exhibits are still enough to make your visit worthwhile.
