Reviews Summary

Visitors find Nicholson Cemetery a uniquely atmospheric and historically significant site, offering a glimpse into colonial Delhi. While its overgrown beauty is a draw for photographers and history buffs, the need for maintenance and potential access issues are noted drawbacks.

"Hidden between the hustle bustle of Kashmere gate. Entry is next to Kashmere gate metro gate 4. Entry is restricted but you can request the guard. The place needs maintenance as too many wild plants have grown around the graves. Wear full clothes to avoid mosquitoes."

Pradeep Peter Murmu

"Nicholson Cemetery is located in Kashmere Gate near metro station and west of Inter State Bus Terminal. Established in 1857, Nicholson Cemetery is the oldest Christian cemetery in Delhi NCR. It was known as the Old Delhi Military Cemetery or Kashmere Gate Cemetery until the early 1900s, when it was named after John Nicholson, a brigadier-general in the British Army.
The grave of Brigadier General John Nicholson who led the assault of Delhi but fell in the hour of victory mortally wounded and died 23rd September 1857 aged 35"

"A mark of bravery of British soldiers who fought valiantly and resting here. Mainly Jack Nicholson, a 7 feet soldier during his time. It is taken care by Christian/Diocese society. Some of great grand children still come to this place from England to lay their respect to their ancestors. It has lot of history, nostalgic tales, and history of early settlement of Britain Old Delhi. It is near to Kashmiri gate, tees hazari, ludlow castle, Metcalfe house, walled Delhi. Contact me for interesting stories of this place"
