"This place called the mini Amazon of India is rich in wildlife. It is a perfect place to visit for wild-life enthusiasts, conservationists, students, tourists and travellers. The wooden walk built in the mangrove trail minimizes human animal conflict and helps people to watch a variety of animals like deer, monkeys, birds, water monitors, red crabs and butterflies in action in their natural habitat. A visit to this national park can inculcate the spirit of living in perfect harmony with nature. The crocodiles and wetland birds are in plenty. On every trip witnessing life in the wilderness is possible in every hour throughout the day. Sharing lunch or dinner with a herd of deer is also very unique to this place. "Beautiful place in the lap of nature. If you love tranquility, go there, if you love rivers, go there, if you love wildlife, go there, if you need some me time, go there, if you are fond of adventure, go there, if jungle fancies you, go there. Go there if you want nature to pamper you. You will be able to see many crocodiles while going by boat through the river. We also saw a lot of deers, some Komodo dragons, lots of birds, few wild boars and jungle hens. The museum there holds a lot of skeletons of crocodiles, dolphins and preserved bodies of snakes, tortoises and small crocodiles. The restaurant inside is very good serving delicious food at reasonable rates. Don’t forget to visit the kings haunting place. It is a 2.5 km walk but it is worth it."

The Mighty Saltwater Crocodile
One of the park's most famous residents is a legendary giant croc, reportedly measuring an astonishing 23 feet, one of the largest ever recorded. While the sheer number and size of crocodiles are a major draw, it's crucial to remember that this is their natural habitat. Guides emphasize maintaining a safe distance and respecting their space to ensure both visitor safety and the well-being of the crocodiles. The park's conservation efforts have been instrumental in the recovery of the saltwater crocodile population, making Bhitarkanika a vital site for their survival.
The presence of these apex predators shapes the entire ecosystem of Bhitarkanika. Their hunting activities influence the populations of fish and other prey, contributing to the delicate balance of the mangrove environment. For wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists, witnessing these magnificent reptiles in their natural setting is an unforgettable experience, highlighting the importance of protecting such unique habitats.
Exploring the Mangrove Ecosystem

As you glide through the water, you'll be surrounded by the towering mangroves, with the sounds of nature providing a serene soundtrack. This immersive experience allows you to appreciate the intricate beauty of the mangrove forest and its role as a nursery ground for marine life and a habitat for terrestrial animals.
