"Sameer Shikharji, Parasnath – A Sacred Trek in the Lap of Nature
Sameer Shikharji, located atop Parasnath Hill in Jharkhand, is one of the most revered Jain pilgrimage sites. It is believed that 20 out of 24 Jain Tirthankaras attained salvation here. The trek not only holds spiritual significance but also offers breathtaking views of hills, forests, and waterfalls.

"All the information you need before planning this trip. 🙏🏻
How to reach -
1. Reach Parasnath Railway station.
2. From there, go to Madhuban - its the place to start the pilgrimage/trek.
3. Omni vans function as auto rickshaw, costs ₹50 per person. Or if in a group, hire one van.
Medium - walking or vehicles -
1. Walk if you can, thats the best experience.
2. Bikes - Bikes are available that take you to almost at the top and back, however you still have to walk some way. It is not recommended for old people/kids though, as they drive rough, at high speeds, and at scary uphill route. Also, negotiate.
3. Palki - One is a small one which is carried by two people, the other is a big one carried by four people. The later is the best option old people.
The palkis can cover all the way, to the top and back.
Essential information for the trek -
1. Duration - The trek takes around 7-8 hrs (including downhill) on moderate walking speed with good breaks, however would take a few hours long if on a pligrimage, as that route is longer.
2. Essentials - At the starting point, there are shops which sell walking sticks (very cheap) and essentials. I recommend buying stuff here rather than on the hill, as its cheaper here.
3. Starting Time - If in a group, can start trek as early as 2 am, so that when its dawn when you reach the top.. and its the best experience. Dont forget to bring flashlight/torch, as its pitch dark.
If solo, then start at dawn, going alone in dark might not be safe, as there's jungle all around.
4. Toilet - There was nothing on the way, nor at the top, so please see accordingly.
Additional info -
1. Season - Avoid summer, its too much heat.. if have to then start the trek very early. Winters are best, though it is very cold.
2. Food - On the hill you'll get maggi and packaged foods. I recommend Sattu (tried at two places, both were very tasty) and Nimbu paani.
3. Hostels/Stay - At Madhuban (base) there are many places to stay, and some Dharmshalas too.
Jai Jinendra.
Johar."
